Because typing is easier than writing

Often times, I scare myself with the poems I write. This is one of
those poems I discovered in one of books. I barely remember writing
it, but I know it's mine.

In the Dark
In the dark, you'll find the hurt and pain,
The watchers of life standing in the rain,
They watch the world spin, taking in it all,
All they've done, what they did, to let themselves fall.
As they did before & the ones before them,
Passed through generations like a heritage gem.
Sorrow fills their hearts, inside and out.
No fear, no hope, little but doubt.

In the dark you'll find an audience ready to view,
The coming end of the world and you.
They stand aside to rest and wait,
For the day you join their silence and hate.
Some want to know you, want to be freed,
But you turn your heads, out of shame and greed.
Won't help us, won't touch us, won't even look,
But you read about us in your paper or book.
Won't talk to us, feed us, not one little bit,
Thinking we're nothing, no mind, no wit.

We were you once, when our lives were okay.
We had family & friends, enough food & pay.
But look what's happened, now it's all done and said.
The tears are dried, no more bloodshed.
You wouldn't help us, now only few live.
We begged & pleaded, nothing to give.
Well I can't wait to see you here with the few of us left,
Relying on garbage, donations, and theft.
Can't wait to see how much you'll cry,
When we take our time to enjoy watching you die.

In the dark is where I am, where I'll stay,
To live my life out...what's left, anyway.
